2012/01/10 – Subuno to Integrate PacificEast Telified™ Service
PacificEast, a leading provider of North American information services into the fraud prevention, healthcare and financial service markets, announced today that Subuno, a fraud prevention SaaS platform that aggregates fraud screening/data solutions, has integrated PacificEast real-time data services.
PacificEast's Telified™ (http://www.telified.com) solution, which verifies consumer identity by providing direct access to the ultimate source of contact data truth: the phone company billing database. Telified confirms the name, address and phone number supplied is indeed valid. Subuno's clients will be able to utilize Telified results as part of their on-going screening process or build rules around the data to automate the screening without having to write any code. (To learn more about the Telified data within Subuno, please visit http://www.subuno.com/telified-phone-verification.
Garth Froese, PacificEast CEO, stated, "We are excited to work with Subuno to provide small and medium sized merchants an out of the box and hosted fraud prevention solution that is intuitive and cost effective. With our cloud-based data service and Subuno's cloud based fraud prevention rules engine, merchants can automate their fraud screening and speed up the manual review process."
"Having the ability to verify that the phone number can be associated with the name and address provides tremendous value to our merchants," said Ed Lin, co-founder of Subuno. "Not only will merchants be able to confirm that they are speaking to the card holder when they call to confirm a high value order, they have an automated way to verify name, address, and phone information for other transactions."
2011/07/25 – PacificEast Research launches SearchPilot™
Beginning Monday, July 25th, PacificEast is making it easier for you to find contact records via our PacificEast Interactive product by introducing a new option called SearchPilot™. SearchPilot monitors the results from your queries and, when necessary, automatically fine-tunes and re-executes your query in order to improve your results. SearchPilot increases your chance of finding a high quality match. Some of the advantages of SearchPilot have been in place for almost a year, operating quietly in the background, but now we're broadening its capabilities so we've decided it's time to give credit where credit is due.
We believe these broader capabilities will improve results for most of our customers, but starting Monday we're going to give you control over whether or not you engage the SearchPilot function. Just like using a wrench to pound in nails doesn't produce the same results as using a hammer, using SearchPilot may not be ideal in every situation. That's why we have given you, the user, control over when SearchPilot helps you and when it doesn't. You'll see the most notable difference in search results when you do a "broad search". Broad searches are those that use few criteria and so can sometimes return in excess of 30 results. (An example of a broad search would be a query for all the John Smiths in Chicago, IL.) SearchPilot is ideal for narrower searches where you're looking for a very specific set of criteria, but it's not always ideal for broad searches because a SearchPilot search can only return up to 30 results. If you want more results you'll want to unselect the SearchPilot option. Without the SearchPilot option engaged you'll find the Interactive service works exactly as it always has: If your search returns more than 30 records, you'll see the paging button displayed to allow you to scroll through all your results.
Still not sure how SearchPilot can help you? Here's a simple synopsis of our recommendations for using SearchPilot:
Use SearchPilot when...
You are looking for a specific person, address or phone number
You don't need or want multiple pages of results
Don't Use SearchPilot when...
You are not sure what specific person, place or phone number you are looking for and want to see as many options as possible
You want to see more than 30 results if they are available
2011/04 – PacificEast Research announces the launch of its new account verification product: Telified™
PacificEast Research, a significant provider of data cleansing, appending and verifications services in North America, announced today the launch of Telified™ (www.telified.ca), a new contact verification platform. In making the announcement, Garth Froese, PacificEast's CEO described Telified as a new system that verifies contact identity information by directly accessing, in real-time, the North American Telecommunications network. "Using the telecom network we allow our customers controlled access to telephone company records to confirm identity and contact information supplied during new account setup or for periodic re-verification of account information they already have on file." PacificEast's Vice President of Sales, Mike Leszcz, described the competitive landscape: "We believe Telified is unique in the market place. Other companies in this space access only on-site databases. This is appropriate in some cases, but not all the time." Mr. Leszcz continued, "By asking the telephone network to confirm the information you supply, our customers have access to a national, independent third party that is already receiving payments every month."
Scott Rice, PacificEast's CIO and a former Principal Scientist at credit bureau TransUnion remarked about the value of Telified for what the financial service industry calls "thin filers", consumers without much established credit. "For some consumers, especially the young and immigrant populations, getting their first credit can be a Catch 22: you can't get any until you already have it. But just because someone doesn't have a long record of established credit doesn't mean they don't or won't pay their bills. Credit Bureaus provide verification services that confirm a consumer's contact information, things like their name, address and phone number, but they can only do this for people they have on file. Thin filers need another way to prove who they are which helps them begin to establish credibility and, eventually, credit. We're excited about Telified because it gives consumers without much credit a new method of establishing who they are and providing an example of how they already pay their bills. But it's also good for business because it provides an affordable means of verifying identity information for those with limited established credit which gives businesses access to more customers without as much of an increase in the potential for fraud." In their announcement today, Mr. Froese said the product will be available in production on Thursday, May 5, 2011 but that product documentation was made available on April 15th. Mr. Froese said "with a product this new we know the marketplace will find creative uses of which we haven't even dreamed. We welcome the opportunity to partner with other creative companies to see how Telified can bring benefit to their particular market segment".
2010/12 – New PacificEast Sales VP to Open East Coast Office
PacificEast Research, a leading provider of real-time information services to businesses in the United States and Canada, today announced that Mike Leszcz Jr. has joined the company as their new Vice President of Sales. In today's announcement Garth Froese, PacificEast CEO, said "Mike is a highly-successful sales and business development executive who has effectively served other Fortune 500 and early stage companies. We know Mike's experience with other leading technology and information providers including Oracle, LexisNexis and FactivaDow Jones will be a timely compliment to our team and will help us create even better value for our customers." Mr. Froese went on to comment that Mr. Leszcz has developed a reputation for effectively helping organizations leverage a wide array of internal and external information resources through enterprise platforms to provide a competitive advantage.
"It’s an exciting time to be at PacificEast as the company is well positioned for continued growth by providing our clients with quality information solutions and partnering with them to launch new, innovative products that will enable them to solve their business challenges," Mr. Leszcz said.
Mr. Leszcz will also be tasked with opening a new sales office to better serve PacificEast's East Coast customers. The new office will be located in the Washington, DC area to be close to PacificEast's many Mid-Atlantic non-profit, call-center and government-related clients. PacificEast, also has US Divisional offices in Portland, Oregon, and is headquartered near Vancouver, British Columbia.
2010/09 – PacificEast To Co-Chair OIX Telecom Data Working Group
PacificEast, a leading provider of real-time information services to businesses in the United States and Canada, today announced that it has joined OIX, the Open Identity Exchange, and that its CIO, Scott Rice, will be co-chairing the Telecom Data Working Group, a forum of telecom industry experts tasked with developing rules for the establishment of a Telecom Data Trust Framework. "Recent government regulations allow new applications to use telephone subscriber data for fraud prevention and other identity-centric applications," said Don Thibeau, president of OIX. "The Telecom Data Trust Framework is conceived of as a methodology and means of ensuring that high quality, up-to-date information speeds and improves Internet transactions while being shared securely and accurately. Scott’s background designing telecom-data-centric authentication systems and PacificEast’s experience providing contact data solutions for ID verification and fraud prevention over the internet will contribute a balanced, market perspective to the framework which is intended to specify a consistent, secure means for telecommunication service providers to authenticate identity information." Due to a complex fabric of federal and state regulations the telecom carriers can find it challenging to develop solutions that provide new services to their subscribers. "I believe it will be a great advantage to the group to have a neutral, open, third party like OIX overseeing and verifying the process," noted Mr. Rice. "The carriers, third party identity verification service providers like PacificEast and, most of all, the subscribers all need to feel comfortable with any use of telecom data; OIX provides an excellent foundation on which to build the necessary trust."
2010/01 – PacificEast's New Slogan: KNOW
In tandem with the launch of its new website, PacificEast has released its new slogan: KNOW. PacificEast CEO, Garth Froese, described the change: "We believe in the value of providing our customers with the best quality data, the fastest processing turnaround times and the best prices. Our new slogan, KNOW highlights our two most important areas of focus. First, we help our customers KNOW the right number to call, the correct address to which they should mail and to make better decisions about how to communicate with their customers. Second, the graphic depiction of KNOW uses color to emphasize the importance of the last three letters: NOW. PacificEast is committed to being industry smart by being innovative, proactive, relevant and fast. I invite you to let us KNOW how we can serve you better."
2010/01 – PacificEast Launches New Website and Portal
PacificEast is kicking off the new decade with a new look for its website. In January 2010, PacificEast will launch an entirely redesigned website. Scott Rice, CIO, described the goals for the new site. "Our goal with the new website was to make it easier for our customers to find helpful information not just about our products, but also about options for them to consider when they're assessing
how they might improve their business processes
. It is easy to fall into the trap of assuming that the reader knows all the industry jargon and vocabulary. Our hope is that this website can be both a general educational tool about common data industry products, as well as a tool to help PacificEast customers find more detailed information about options they may want to consider."
2009/11 – Pat Taylor Receives CISSP Designation
This month PacificEast recognized the efforts of its Chief Technology Officer, Pat Taylor. Mr. Taylor is responsible for all network, hardware and technology infrastructure, contracts and security at PacificEast. The reason for special recognition this month is that Pat has been awarded the designation of CISSP, A Certified Information Systems Security Professional by the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium.
In his announcement, PacificEast CEO, Garth Froese said "Pat is the envy of any company as a CTO; and now adds to that the CISSP designation. As a veteran in the IT industry Pat loves to learn, works well with Customers and exercises versatility in skill-sets that add enormous value to YOU our Partners and PacificEast. Thank you for sharing in our congratulations to Pat!"

2009/09 – New Product Announcement: NCOA Name Cleaner
In September, PacificEast is introducing the
NCOA Name Cleaner
as a complimentary product to its existing line of National Change of Address (NCOA) related products. Scott Rice, PacificEast's CIO, responsible for product and application development, described in PacificEast's September Newsletter the challenge that forced a product solution: "The standard NCOA process begins when a person moves and fills out a change of address card at the Post Office. The postal service takes the exact name entered on the card and enters it into their database. The NCOA process provided by the post office searches through the NCOA database looking for a person’s name and previous address and, when found, returns the new forwarding address. The problem with that old process is that NCOA doesn't allow much leeway in matching names. To make matters worse, people don't always use the exact same name on every form they fill out. This means that what a person may have supplied as a name to the postal service on a change of address card may not be the exact same name they used when filling out a form with one of our customers. When this happens and our customer attempts to look up the name they have on file in the NCOA system, the NCOA system may very likely not be able to locate the record."
As a solution to this problem
PacificEast designed its new Name Cleaner which improves the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the traditional NCOA process. PacificEast's NCOA Name Cleaner
is
now available as of September 1st, 2009.
2009/08 – New Product Introduction: Line Identification Append
This month PacificEast is introducing a new product:
Line Identification Append
, or
LIA
. This new product gives you additional insight into phone numbers including what kind of telephone number it is (landline, wireless, VoIP, etc.) and if the phone number is valid. A Premium version is also available that additionally provides where the phone is located and the telephone company that provides the service.
The Line Identification Append service is the result of a proprietary process combining data licensed from agents of the United States Federal Communication Commission (FCC) and the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) and both the US and Canadian Postal Services. LIA is available via a real-time interactive web page, as a secure batch service and accessible directly from customer’s computer systems via PacificEast's XML API.

The newsletter will be distributed electronically the 3rd week of every month beginning in July.
